Howdy folks.

Been a busy time here in the land of Bird Lovers Online; plenty of new features; plenty of new members too.

The new updated forum software has been online for a week and it is doing GREAT; it looks cleaner; is easier to use and comes with some cool features like the article section which we are slowly going to be filling up with awesome bird information so we are truly a one stop shop for all your avian information and advice.

We have brought back a couple of features to our community which have been dead for quite some time.

We are also building back up our forum tutorial section; you can find our current selection by [Dear Guest sorry you cannot see this link until register. Please click here to register] you might learn some things; I know I did.

The [Dear Guest sorry you cannot see this link until register. Please click here to register] is back and better than ever; there is usually bird lovers in there ready for a friendly chat.

The Christmas/New Year contest has almost closed, in fact there is about 2 more days to enter your photos for a chance to win some great bird prizes; please [Dear Guest sorry you cannot see this link until register. Please click here to register] to take a look at the current photos entered and if you like you can enter your own too.

You may have noticed underneath your post count on forum posts such as this one; there is a Parrot Points: with a number next to it.
The Parrot Points are gathered by being active in the forums and will soon be able to spent on virtual items in the forum such as changing your usertitle, custom signatures, ect.

Parrot Points are given out as follows:

Parrot Points For: Creating a Thread - 30
Parrot Points For: Posting a Reply - 10
Bonus Parrot Points Per Character in thread/post - 0.001
Parrot Points For: Referring a Member - 100 (but only if the referred member creates 5 or more posts)
Parrot Points For: Registering - 20 ( you will automatically be given Parrot Points after your 5th post)

Parrot Points are taken away in the following circumstances:

For every warning you get in the forum 50 Parrot Points will be taken out of your total.

All the members registered before this newsletter went out have received 1 point per post count on 30/12/2009 8pm (New Zealand time)


If you are new to the community please don't be shy; please introduce your self to everybody, we wont bite :-) and we absolutely love photos of your birds.

When I did my artistic Merlot inviting people to a party in the North, I didn't imagine I would fall asleep right when the ball fell down in Times Sq. For a couple of minutes I was out, and missed the ball. Phoo.... can't do anything right, huh? Did anybody tape it? I have to re-do my New Years moment -- but I did see the fireworks afterward, and it was great!
